Flappy bird is developed in Hanoi, Vietnam and was published by .GEARS studio. It was launched in may 2013 and is currently number one app in both Apple app store and Google play. The game makes $50,000 every day in ad revenue.The developer of the game, Dong Nguyen said that, he never did any promotion of the game and  the popularity of the game is just by luck. 

The game works on a simple principle where the player taps the screen to prevent the bird from falling down while dodging the obstacles.
The players claims that there is nothing exquisite about this game and perhaps the success of this game could be due to its simplicity.
